JUNIOR VOLUNTEERS

If you are 12 to 17 years of age and would like to become a Junior Volunteer, The SPCA for Monterey County has many valuable opportunities to offer!  Junior Volunteers may choose from a variety of volunteer positions, including working directly with the animals, assisting with shelter tasks and many other on or off-site volunteer activities.

The SPCA offers the following four options for Junior Volunteers:

  • General Junior Volunteer Program
Volunteer with an adult partner to help animals
  • Youth Community Service Program
Provide general short-term tasks or service projects with the help of an adult partner
  • Junior Apprenticeship Program
For high-school students only who meet eligibility requirements. Junior Apprentice Program volunteers work closely with SPCA staff to learn about careers with animals
  • Service Learning Program
Coordinated with academic institutions and designed to meet specific class requirements
